African R2R alternative itinerary

Because the situation in Libya is complicated by civil war and military intervention by other countries, the initial route of Ride To Roots can not be carried out. Being assessed, therefore, different alternatives:

  1. Getting to Egypt and follow the predefined route. Right now there is no ferry from Europe destined for an Egyptian port. The Italian company Visemar Line plans to restore service during next October, operating on a route that would begin in Venice and would end one of the ports of Egypt. The company told us that later this month of August would give us more information.

  2. Arriving by bike to Turkey, sailing by ferry to Israel and then going to Egypt by bike.

  3. Reaching Morocco and doing the African route by the west side of the continent:
Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Namibia, Cape Town (South Africa).

I'm taking advantage of the Land software by CompeGPS to design the itinerary.

The trip will begin during the second half of November from Barcelona. Over the next month we'll give the exact date of departure. ;)
